Brazil lost the game really due to their own faults. Generally their players posses better skills, but are not quick enough to respond. Their players had no sense of urgency, at least initially. During the first 20 min. or so,they had had a few opportunities to score, but their players were simply too hesitant to respond quick enough. In one sequence, one of their players simply half kneel own in front of the opponent goal and not quick enough to get up and kick the ball etc. Only after they trailed two goals did they raised their sense of urgency and organized effective attacks but it was too late. Of course, their luck was bad too. The first goal they lost was their own goal, and there should be a penalty kick on that VAR review (The BBC commentators looked at the play from various angles, probably better than the VAR staffs in Russia, and concluded that it should be a penalty). If Brazil (or similar style Latin American teams) want to play European teams more effectively, they need to change their play styles according to situations. In front of the opponent goal, they need to have a sense of urgency. You simply can't wait and try to watch before you act. There's no time for that, just try to kick (or use you body) the ball into the net as quickly as possible! The Brazilian Samba style plays need changes. ... |
